Xavier's Notes: "As much as it pains me to say this, there are times when I see Scott as the son I never had. Rationally, I know that I am a father; I have a son, but David has been so difficult for so long, and Scott... it seems like Scott's always been here at my side."Scott came into my life when he was very young, not long after the boy lost both of his parents to a plane crash. He was so frail and afraid then, so unwilling to ask for help or even to accept help as it was offered. That fierce self-reliance and introversion is with him even to this day. I wonder how much I have contributed to his impersonation of Atlas himself, carrying the world on his shoulders alone.
"Scott's abilities are impressive but have proven uncontrollable. I wonder sometimes whether my attempts to help him with his powers have truly helped him at all. Ten years have passed and Scott still relies on the rare mineral ruby quartz to keep them at bay. The span of years spent here, with the school and with me, has strengthened him in other ways, however; they have honed him into a man that I feel confident will only become stronger as time goes on.
"When my age finally catches up with me and I pass on, I fear Scott may become even more embittered than he is now. He has taken the death of Jean so hard, even harder than the deaths of his parents. Time has done little to heal those wounds, I'm afraid. My second largest failing with him has been my inability to help.
"I do know that beneath this harsher, colder exterior Scott has been exhibiting recently, the idealistic man within him still exists, though he strives so hard to pretend it doesn't. Perhaps one day, Scott will come out of his shell. If I ever retire, I hope to leave my school to him. Maybe, one day, he'll be ready."

Vital Statistics
Height: 5'10" (178cm)
Weight: 145 lbs (65kg)
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
D-O-B: 2-6-1991
Classification: Homo Sapiens Superior - Alpha
Codename: None
Mutant Abilities: Quantakinesis, Telepathy
Xavier's Notes: "David is perhaps both my greatest achievement and my greatest failure. A mutant of near omnipotence, David has shown the ability to do just about anything within his mental grasp. Exceedingly bright, that grasp has grown in leaps and bounds. His potential is nearly without limit. The only other mutant ever to come close to his levels of power is Jean Grey.
"Unfortunately, David's powers manifested too early; he was unable to cope with the sheer amount of power and control at his command. He became psychotic; he developed paranoia and schizophrenia. Unfortunately, David's break with reality manifested itself in unfathomable ways. The phantoms of David's mind become real; his bouts of madness are shared by everyone around him.
"There is one defense against David's vast power; steel. It seems neither his quantakinetic nor his telepathic abilities are able to pierce this particular alloy. It is a blessing, perhaps, that steel is in great abundance.
"David is disturbed in ways even I do not understand. His mind is closed off to me; nothing I have tried has made any progress. Perhaps I have simply not tried enough with him. I might as well be on another planet, running the Institute while David remains exiled to the lowest levels of Moira's Muir Island Research Facility. Even now, I do not know what I can do to reach out to him. I fear what may happen should David escape his steel prison. I fear what my failures may cost ."

Xavier File 000
For classification purposes, scientists studying the mutant genome have devided mutants into a number of groups, based on the strength of the particular X-Factors of each.
Alphas are mutants whose abilities extend far beyond their physical reach. These mutants can use their powers in an extremely long range, and often global, scale. While Alphas are the most powerful of all mutants, they are also the most closely tied to their powers. These mutants have versatile abilities, and often have multiple aspects within their scope of influence. These mutants are often burdened by their powers as much as gifted by them.
Betas are mutants who still maintain a long range with their abilities. These mutants can effect the enviornment as far as they can physically see. Athlough not as versatile as Alphas, some Betas lose range to gain it. Betas are also given to bouts of loss of control, though they generally struggle less than others.
Gamma Mutants still maintain ranged abilities, or, if they lack range, have a number of versatile powers to make up for it. Gammas typically master their powers, and can live with them the most easily.
Deltas are lower powered still, below other classifications. Often these mutants have only one or two abilities, with limited range. Deltas also can develop negative side effects of their powers rather than positive ones.
Epsilons are mutants who would most closely represent the term 'freak'. These mutants often suffer from physical deformities and handicaps which limit their ability to integrate into society. Any ability Epsilons develop is limited in use, if useful at all.

Solicitation - Children of the Atom #1 (of 3)
By the time Xavier held National Adress, it had nearly been too late. Mass rioting in Genosha over their Mutant Workcamp Program had reached international news. As a member of the UN, Genosha proved untouchable; no country would step in to police the small island nation. Doing so would be tantamount to a declaration of war. And since no laws had been passed globally on the true status of Mutants--whether they fell under the same international law as humans, or they were merely another species of intelligent animal, no one group could prove the issue one way or the other. And so these mutants remained as they were, subject to the humane guidelines afforded to endangered monkeys. Subject to the needs and interests of the country they were in. And until UN made a final decision, mutants were property in Genosha. And the riots would continue.Expect the full issue soon!
Charles Xavier, human rights activist, Professor in the fields of Biology and Genetics, called together a National Address to open a forum on mutant issues. Calling out for public support, he declared that mutants were indeed human. They were just a little bit... different.
"--and with that in mind, I feel that it's finally time to put an end to masks, an end to hiding our gifts behind 'secret identities' and ill-fitting clothes.
"Ladies and gentlemen. My name is Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X. And I am a mutant."
